The New York Giants are in prime position to select their franchise quarterback in April’s draft, though there is a chance they won’t get their pick of anyone.
That’s why, according to ESPN, if the Giants remain at No. 3, they might have to make a trade to guarantee the No. 1 pick. In an “all-in“ move, ESPN’s draft analyst Matt Miller said New York would part with multiple picks to make it happen — and select Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, who, with wide receiver Malik Nabers, would ”give themselves a chance in the NFC East.”

I have the Giants going big to fix their quarterback situation, giving Jacksonville their second- and third-round picks in 2025, plus a 2026 second-rounder, to move up from No. 3. It gets New York out in front of Cleveland, which could also be looking at the QB class, and crucially doesn’t involve any future first-round picks. The Jaguars, meanwhile, collect valuable draft capital to restock a roster in desperate need of repair.
(Cleveland helped the Giants with a 24-19 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night.)
While it is very likely that the Giants take a QB in the first round of the draft, they still have seven games remaining and a lot will change from now until April. According to Tankathon, the Giants, with a .200 win percentage, have one of the harder remaining schedules remaining among the 10 worst teams, their .520 winning percentage of their opponents ranks third hardest, which would be good for their odds of losing.
But this is simply a guess at the ends they could go to to ensure they don’t get their QB pick wrong, like they did with Daniel Jones at No. 6 in 2019. Now, Jones has been benched and relegated to fourth-stringer to not risk triggering his $23 million injury guarantee. He has played his last snap in New York, which will undoubtedly cut him this offseason. Tommy DeVito is Sunday’s starter.
Sanders, who has thrown for 3,222 yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 10 games, talked about the Giants on his podcast “2Legendary” recently. In a segment in which he reacts to top stories in sports, he read, “The New York Giants bench Daniel Jones after being 2-8.”
His co-host of the week, Colorado wide receiver Drelon Miller, offered a quick (and coy) response: “Honestly I feel like they’ve just got to take a second to regroup and, you know, hopefully get something good out of the draft…”
A huge grin then stretched across Sanders’ face.
“What you doing that for, now?” Sanders said. “What you what you doing that for?”
“I mean, Malik Nabers was my favorite receiver playing college football last year,” Miller responded. “I wouldn’t mind if I see y’all two on the team together. I’ll be actually very happy.”
Sanders, still smiling throughout, then offered a long and winding, “no comment.”
“Come on man, he being Federal out here, I don’t know,” Sanders said. “But nah, I think it’s up to the staff, up to the coaches at that point, I don’t know. No comment — that’s just a safe route for me, just no comment. I can’t even turn water to wine right now. I can’t do anything, so just no comment.
“But I would never pray on anybody’s downfall. I would never do that. I would never do that. And I would never play on no team’s downfall, players’ downfall, anything because I won’t want anybody to do that to me. So that’s why I just just don’t have a comment.”
